Spouse or Partner Visa

You may be able to apply for a Partner Visa.
 
Some partner visa applicants may be  are able to make a valid application while in Australia and they can remain here while the visa is being processed.
 
If  applying from outside Australia, after grant of a provisional partner visa, the spouse or de facto partner can enter and remain in Australia for the provisional period.

Providing the relationship with their Australian partner continues to meet the criteria of the visa, provisional partner visas are held for a period of two years from the date of visa application or until the permanent visa is decided.

Provisional partner visa holders are entitled to work in Australia and have access to Medicare.
 
In most cases, if the relationship is assessed as continuing to satisfy the criteria of all relevant regulations,  the second, permanent,  the Partner Visa will be granted.

For some current temporary visa holders, it may be possible to make an onshore application for a spouse visa, partner visa.
